FIRST DAY FOR FREDERIC VASSEUR, FERRARI WILL PAY BINOTTO 12 MONTHS VACATION

Today, Monday, 09/01/2023, Frédéric Vasseur arrived at Ferrari in Maranello, where he assumed his duties as head of the Formula 1 team.

Vasseur previously for christmas holidays exchanges forst impressions with the people of Ferrari and with hir two drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr..

It begins a new cycle at Ferrari, without closing the previous one when the team seemed to be in a clean comeback with Mattia Binoto. But officials at the Maranello team have lost faith in him, perhaps because the start to the 2022 season was so spectacular that the defeat was very bitter.

In place of technician Binoto, comes Vasseur, who is an aerodynamicist. His F1 career began when Cyril Abiteboul called him to manage the Renault F1 team. It lasted one season.

Six months later he became head of Sauber, after which he made the giant step to Ferrari. His first decision in Sauber was remarcable. He ended contract with Honda and signed with Ferrari.

Sergio Marchionne has entrusted him entering Alfa Romeo's logo in Formula 1 and develpoment of Ferrari's young driver academy member Charles Leclerc.
His first decision in Ferrari will have to be fierce and quick. That is the setting of the technical director.

Frédéric, an engineer by profession, will not undertake a double position, it was not the case in any of the F1 teams where he was a member. He will have to deal with Binoto's hard core, to believe in them or change them.

Some believe he will also have to decide the driver hierarchy, but that may not be his concern. After all, the first races will be the ones to determine that. All this seasoned with inhereted car from his predecessor.

Ferrari are eager to see results on the track. It remains to be seen in Maranello if he will have autonomy or if John Elkann and Benedetto Vigna will want to oversee the squad.
For his predecessor, Mattia Binoto, the work at the Scuderia ended on December 20, 2022, when he said goodbye and handed over everything.

Until now, the 2023 plans for Binotto were not known, but the Italian press managed to shed some light on what will happen.

Given that Mattia Binoto has a planned sabbatical for the next 12 months, Ferrari will pay an additional fee so that he does not go to work for another Formula 1 team, the FIA or Liberty Media.

The amount of the wages is not specified, but it is a common practice in Formula 1, when some expert leave, to take take gardening leave for a certain period of time, usually six months or a year.
