TEAM PRINCIPALS AND F1 DRIVERS VOTING FOR BEST DRIVER OF 2022 SEASON

For many years running, team principals have been asked to name the top ten drivers for the past season in Formula 1. They can also vote for their own drivers.

Picking from 1-10 brings points as in every Formula 1 race, from 25 for first to one point for tenth.

This year, all the team bosses voted: Mattia Binoto, Jost Capito, Christian Horner, Mike Krack, Andreas Seidl, Gunther Steiner, Ottmar Schaffnauer, Franz Tost, Frederik Wasser and Toto Wolff.

Surely the Top 3 ranking will not surprise anyone, because Max Verstappen was in a different league in terms of performance, as well as the ranking of Charles Leclerc and George Russell, who completed the podium.

Although the final standings are public, the individual scores are secret, so we will be left without knowing how the team bosses voted individually.
Meanwhile, the official website of Formula 1 announced another victory for Max Verstappen, who was chosen as the best driver of the 2022 season by his colleagues.

The voting took place according to the same principle as for the team bosses. As in previous years, the rules allow drivers to vote for themselves, and individual votes are secret.

Verstappen once again beat title rival and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. The Mercedes AMG duo won the same number of points for third place and share the last place on this podium.

McLaren driver Lando Norris, the only driver to take the podium in 2022, and not driving a Red Bull, Mercedes AMG or Ferrari car, was voted fifth by his collegues, one place higher than the team principals' ranking.

Fernando Alonso was sixth, one place ahead of compatriot Carlos Sainz Jr. in reverse positioning of the ranking from the team bosses.

Alex Albon's fantastic performance in the non-competitive Williams car impressed his rivals, with the British Thai sharing eighth place with Sergio Perez and Sebastian Vettel.

All drivers participated in the vote, except for the "self-righteous": Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso, Valtteri Bottas, Pierre Gasly, Nicholas Latifi, Charles Leclerc, Kevin Magnussen, Lando Norris, Esteban Ocon, Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, George Russell, Carlos Sainz Jr., Mick Schumacher, Lance Stroll, Yuki Tsunoda, Max Verstappen, Sebastian Vettel, Zhou Guanyu.
