MAX WITH A NEW RECORD, 16 WINS IN ONE F1 SEASON

Max Verstappen won the Mexico City Grand Prix to record his 51st career win and 16th of the season.

Lewis Hamilton finished second, repeating his best result of the season and closing the gap on Perez in the race for second place in the drivers' championship.

Charles Leclerc finished third, reaching the podium for the fourth time this season.

Next week the fight will continue in Brazil.
The Dutchman made a masterful start to take the lead at the first corner, which Charles Leclerc was unable to match after starting from pole position, while an impatient Sergio Perez had to abandon the race after contact with the Monegasque.

We saw a boring race, at least as far as the fight for victory is concerned. Verstappen, after taking the lead from P3, at a competitive pace, never let it go.

He was also confident at the restart of the race after the red flag, due to the unfortunate exit of Kevin Magnussen, who ended up in the barriers on the side of the track due to a failure of the rear suspension of Haas's car.

But in addition to Verstappen's 51st win, level with Alain Prost, and his sixteenth of the season, the battle for the rest of the podium places had more intrigue.
The Ferraris were in a good position at the start of the race, but a red flag and a good decision by the Mercedes AMG strategists to switch to yellow tires allowed Lewis Hamilton to finish second, ahead of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr.

Lando Norris made a spectacular comeback finishing fifth after starting P17. George Russell and Daniel Ricciardo had a battle to the very finish for 6th place.

Oscar Pjastri had a flirtation with Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese missed out on securing plus points for AlfaTauri in taking 8th in the Constructors' Championship, while the Australian had to settle for 8th ahead of Alex Albon and Esteban Ocon who completed the points standings.
