SPA-Francorchamps remains on the F1 calendar for at least two more seasons. Formula 1 and the organizers of the event announced that an agreement has been reached until 2025.
The interest of numerous countries and circuits to become part of the Formula 1 calendar and Liberty Media's desire to expand into new markets has called into question the continuity of legendary tracks such as Spa-Francorchamps.
The continuity of the Belgian Grand Prix, held at this circuit, was seriously threatened, and the contracts were extended from year to year, thanks to a fortunate set of circumstances. This year it was held as a result of the failure to organize a race in Africa.
However, today Formula 1 has made official the renewal of the contract until 2025, that is. the last season of this generation of F1 cars.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1: "Spa is synonymous with Formula 1 having been one of the circuits in our first ever season and is much-loved by fans and drivers alike, so I am delighted to extend our relationship with them until 2025."
"The promoter has taken big strides in the last few years to improve the fan experience and infrastructure, and work is ongoing between all the stakeholders with a clear focus on delivering safe and exciting racing. I would like to thank the promoter and the Government of Wallonia for their continued support."
