MATTIA BINOTTO LEAVING FERRARI, WHO WILL REPLACE HIM

Today, November 29, 2022, Ferrari officially confirmed Mattia Binoto's departure as team principal on December 31. The team is currently searching for his replacement, with a new team boss expected to be named in early 2023.

Mattia Binotto: "With the regret that this entails, I have decided to conclude my collaboration with Ferrari. I am leaving a team that I love, which I have been part of for 28 years, with the serenity that comes from the convinction that I have made every effort to achieve the objectives set."

"I leave a united and growing team. A strong team, ready, I’m sure, to achieve the highest goals, to which I wish all the best for the future. I think it is right to take this step at this time as hard as this decision has been for me. I would like to thank all the people at the Gestione Sportiva who have shared this journey with me, made up of difficulties but also of great satisfaction."

Benedetto Vigna, CEO: "I want to thank Mattia for his contribution to Ferrari over the past 28 years, and especially for bringing the team back to a competitive level last year."

"As a result, we are well-positioned to return to the fight that our incredible fans around the world have been waiting for and win motorsport's top prize. Everyone at the Scuderia and the wider Ferrari community wishes Matthias all the best for the future. "
Ferrari has started the process of selecting a new team boss, which they hope will be completed by the end of this year, that is, until the Christmas holidays. Rumors about Binoto's departure have been constant in recent weeks and several candidates have positioned themselves as successors.

Ferrari tried to attract Christian Horner and Andreas Seidl, but both turned them down. Ross Brown's name was also mentioned, but he is retiring at the end of the year and announced that next year he will watch Formula 1 from his couch in his living room.

The leading candidate is Frédéric Vasseur. The current Alfa Romeo team boss, who has put himself forward, is the favorite according to the Italian press and already has experience running an F1 team.

In addition, he has a close relationship with Charles Leclerc. If this option is chosen it will mean that the Monegasque is bigger than the team, then Ferrari really has fallen to the lowest possible branches!

Antonello Coletta is another being linked with the team boss role. The Italian is responsible for Ferrari's GT program, so it would be an internal promotion. Ferrari is also considering appointing Bendeto Vigna as interim team boss, who will lead the team until Binoto's successor is decided.

With this, the work of the president of Ferrari, John Elkann is piling up. The crisis in the Formula 1 team joins the crisis of Juve, where the entire management board resigned last night. The reason may be the involvement of the management board in the investigation opened by the public prosecutor's office in Turin, known as Prisma, on charges of false accounting.
