HAAS F1 LIVERY REVEAL - AMERICAN TEAM WITH RUSSIAN FLAVOR

Uralkali, one of the world’s largest potash fertilizer producers and exporters, will become the title partner of Haas F1 Team in a multi-year agreement starting with the 2021 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. Uralkali Haas F1 Team, as the team will now be known, has unveiled the livery of its new-look VF-21 race car to launch its partnership with Uralkali.

Images of the entry that will be driven by the team’s all-rookie lineup of Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher were released across the team’s social media channels, the digital renderings of the VF-21 showcasing a new predominantly white livery with significant Uralkali branding.

Haas Automation, the global CNC machine tool company founded by team owner Gene Haas, continues to adorn the sidepods with its prominent branding a familiar sight as the American outfit readies for its sixth season of Formula 1 competition.

The VF-21 will make its physical debut on Friday March 12, the first day of pre-season testing hosted at the Bahrain International Circuit. Mazepin and Schumacher will be on-hand to present the car at 08:30 a.m. local time outside of the Uralkali Haas F1 Team garage. With pre-season testing limited to just three days ahead of the start of a planned 23-race schedule, Mazepin and Schumacher will both feature behind the wheel each day of testing in Bahrain.

1&1, a leading German telecommunications provider, will partner with Uralkali Haas F1 Team in the capacity of ‘Exclusive Telecommunications Partner’ starting with the 2021 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. 1&1’s dynamic new partnership with the team will see the company’s brand logo adorn the VF-21 race cars with Mick Schumacher becoming a brand ambassador for 1&1.
Gene Haas, chairman: "“I’m very pleased to welcome Uralkali to Formula 1 as title partner to Haas F1 Team. We look forward to representing their brand throughout the season. It’s an exciting time for the team with Uralkali coming onboard and having Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher driving for us."

"It’s definitely a case of all change but I’m hoping that we get back to being in the mix for scoring some points at these races. It’s been a tough couple of seasons, but we’ve also got our eye on the bigger picture, in particular 2022 and the implementation of the new regulations.”"

Guenther Steiner, team principal: "I happily echo Mr. Haas’s comments, we are pleased to be partnered by Uralkali this season and beyond. We approach a new season with a new title partner and two new drivers, it’s going to be an exciting year head, hopefully exciting only in a good way though."

"We face a year of learning with the drivers while technically we look ahead to the future. It’s no secret that the VF-21 will not be developed as we focus our energies now on the 2022 car and, what we hope, will be a more level-playing field. We all know roughly where we expect to be this season in terms of the competition, but we must ensure we’re there to capitalize on opportunities when they present themselves."

"But first we have to get the guys dialed in at testing. Time behind the wheel is short – so it’ll be a steep curve, but I’m personally looking forward to seeing their development as drivers and as team members within Uralkali Haas F1 Team."
During the video conference, Mick Schumacher talked about the last days of preparations for the debut season.

Mick Schumacher, #47: "In the UK I had to spend five days in isolation and then we worked from 8am to 11:30pm so I could feel as comfortable as possible in the car. It was not easy, the cockpit is very narrow. Despite all that hard work, you still have to adjust to the track. You can only notice certain subtleties while driving the car, to understand it better."

"I will spend the other days before the test session training, I work on this six days a week. The biggest focus now is on the neck muscles. The best training is driving a real car. Unfortunately, we do not have as many days for this as we would like."

"I really liked the color of the new car, it's wonderful. It's especially nice to see your number on it, 47. With a lot of training in the Ferrari simulator, I feel like I'm well prepared for the pre-season test session. I'm totally focused on our program."

"We know the team will not develop the car during the season, focusing entirely on the car for next season. But this does not change our ambitions. We need to use what we have. I want to help Haas get better. results from last season."

"I met Nikita back in 2012, when we raced in karting. In 2013, we were teammates, and then we often drove in the same championships, in 2017 in Formula 3, from 2019 in Formula 2. Nikita is strong opponent."
At the presentation of Haas' new livery, Formula 1 debutant Nikita Mazepin spoke about the upcoming season and the scandalous video that gave the Russian debutant a picture of a bad boy.

Nikita Mazepin, #9: "I understand that this was unacceptable behavior. As I said, I take responsibility for my behavior on and off the track. People have to treat each other in a certain way to live in peace and humanity. "I will become one of those people now."

"It turned out that I made a serious mistake. I took responsibility for it, I drew conclusions and I hope that the year will go smoothly. When you sign a contract with a Formula 1 team, you immediately become an example for children who also aspire to enter this championship."

"The transition from Formula 2 to Formula 1 is a serious step, I have a lot to learn. This is what worries me more than the created image. I want my racing performances to speak for me. I want to thank the team that supported me and helped me. "I have to draw conclusions. I think after this incident I was making progress in my upbringing and behavior, so it helped me a lot."

"Mick is a great driver, but my job is to try to be ahead of him. I used to be one step ahead of Mick, but he caught up with me again. I'm not worried about our chances this year. I'm confident in the team and in Ferrari, Mick and I have everything to improve our Formula 1 skills."

"As for the behavior on the track, if you notice free space and do not try to attack, then you are not a driver. In some situations, the stewards will not agree with me, this is inevitable. But I know that in Formula 1 you have to I adapt my driving style to success."

"To enter Formula 1, you need certain prerequisites and skills. I am not the first or the last driver to receive financial support. I treat this as a challenge, I have to prove myself in Formula 1 and give a decent answer to those that criticize me. "
