2011 MALAYSIA GP: VETTEL FASTEST WHEN NEEDED, GRABS ANOTHER POLE POSITION

Sebastian Vettel took pole position for the Malaysian Grand Prix, after beating Lewis Hamilton with the final lap of a close qualifying session at Sepang. Christian Horner confirmed the team was running the KERS system.

Hamilton was 0.104s slower then German. Mark Webber was 0.309s off team-mate Vettel's pace in third, and 0.021s ahead of Jenson Button in the second McLaren. Fernando Alonso was fifth quickest, over half a second slower than Button immediately ahead of him, followed by Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa, with Vitaly Petrov, Nico Rosberg and Kamui Kobayashi rounding out the top ten.

Both Renaults made it to Q3 despite the team's tough start to the weekend. For the second race in a row, Michael Schumacher missed out on a Q3 spot and will start 11th - this time after his Mercedes team-mate Rosberg's late improvement knocked him out. At the very back were two Virgins and the HRT pair, both getting comfortably within the 107% time.

107% time: 1m43.516s: All cars to start race, even HRT!!!
