MAX SECURED THE 100`S POLE FOR RED BULL RACING

Max Verstappen secured pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix, his 37th in Formula 1, a jubilee for Red Bull.

In the last attempt, Sergio Perez secured the first starting row for his team, and Fernando Alonso managed to keep the same, 3rd, starting position that he had in the sprint qualifying.

It's an unusual feeling to have qualifying right after the exciting action of Saturday's sprint, but that's what the new format change has brought about.

We saw a few surprises, such as Lewis Hamilton dropping out in the Q1 segment after finishing second in the Sprint.

At the top, however, there were no surprises. Max Verstappen once again showed his dominance and got a new pole at a circuit that Formula 1 has not visited since 2019.
Sergio Perez confirmed Red Bull's dominance with second position, but the Mexican had to sweat for it and only managed it in the last fast lap, beating Fernando Alonso who was second in the first fast laps in Q3.

The Spaniard missed one tenth, but he managed to be faster than the "dangerous" competitors, the McLaren and Ferrari drivers.

Lando Norris was fourth, ahead of Oscar Piastre, Charles Leclerc ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr., distributed in less than a tenth and a half!
Carlos Sainz Jr. apparently still under impression from the close battle with Fernando in the sprint, with 6 minutes left in the Q2 segment he almost destroyed his Ferrari, losing control in the final corner and ending up in the safety barriers.

Good thing his car stalled in the process, so red flags had to be waived, after which he somehow managed to start the car and the break allowed him to return to his garage and have his mechanics fix his SF-24 for further participation.

In the end, only by changing the nose of the car he managed to set time for P7, only 0.008 parts of a second behind his teammate in P6. The top 10 was completed by George Russell, Nico Hulkenberg and Valtteri Bottas.
Aston Martin submitted a protest against the qualifying results!

Reason: Violation of Article 39.6 of the rules:
Any driver whose car stops on track during a qualifying session or sprint shootout will not be allowed to participate further in that session.

Latest News: Stewards dissmised the protest.
