WMSC APPROVES SALE OF FORMULA ONE TO LIBERTY MEDIA

The World Motor Sport Council has unanimously approved the change of control of Delta Topco Limited (the holding company of the Formula One Group and thus the owner of the Commercial Rights of the FIA Formula One World Championship) from CVC Capital Partners in favour of Liberty Media Corporation at an extraordinary meeting today in Geneva.

Following three and a half very successful years, Paddy Lowe will be leaving Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport. He has now begun a period of garden leave. In the short term, technical organisation will continue to operate under the proven and established leadership of our senior directors Aldo Costa (Engineering Director), Mark Ellis (Performance Director), Rob Thomas (Chief Operating Officer) and Geoff Willis (Technology Director).

2016 ABU DHABI GP: HAMILTON WINS RACE, ROSBERG WINS CHAMPION TROPHY

Nico Rosberg was crowned 2016 Formula One World Champion as he finished second behind team-mate and title rival Lewis Hamilton at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel was third for Ferrari. Hamilton took the win he needed in the race but despite a hugely tense finish in which the leading Mercedes drivers were hunted down Sebastian Vettel, Rosberg clung on to second to win the title by just five points.

2016 ABU DHABI GP: HAMILTON ON POLE, NEEDS HELP FOR TITLE

Lewis Hamilton will start tomorrow’s title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from pole position after beating championship rival Nico Rosberg in qualifying by three tenths of a second. The drivers standings leader will start second ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.

RED BULL AND TAG HEUER EXTEND THEIR PARTNERSHIP

After a highly successful first year, Red Bull Racing and TAG Heuer are delighted to announce that they will continue to power ahead into the future with the team set to run with TAG Heuer-branded engines for two more years, through the 2018 season.

The renewal was announced today at Yas Marina Circuit, location of this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final round of the 2016 Formula One World Championship.

To mark the occasion and the end of a season in which The Team finished second in the Constructors’ Championship, TAG Heuer Global Sports Director, Marc Biver, joined Team Principal Christian Horner and driver Daniel Ricciardo on the roof of the Yas Viceroy Hotel at the circuit to press the button on the countdown to the 2017 season, which gets underway on March 26 in Melbourne, Australia.
